Yes! BMP is ideal for making pavement repairs in wet holes.

What are suitable methods to compact BMP?
BMP can be compacted with a hand tamper, the wheel of a vehicle, vibratory compactor or roller. Sufficient compaction of BMP during installation will increase initial surface stability and prevent raveling, pushing and rutting.

When applying BMP, is a tack coat or primer required?
No! The liquid asphalt formula used in BMP has tenacious binding ability and does not require a tack coat or primer.

How do you estimate the amount of BMP needed for a repair?
For every square foot of area to be covered to 1” in depth, approximately 12 lbs. of BMP is needed.

How long until BMP sets up?
When compacted, the liquid asphalt and aggregate in BMP become stable enough to immediately handle traffic. The surface of the patch will cure over time to the hardness of surrounding pavement. Below the surface, the BMP will cure at a much slower rate, which permits the patch to move with the surrounding pavement during expansion, construction and weathering.

How long will BMP last in a stockpile?
BMP stockpiles of 100 tons or larger will remain for on year. Lesser quantities in stockpile will last several weeks to several months, depending on how the material is stored. A BMP stockpile forms a protective barrier or shell, which maintains freshness of the material inside. Do not disturb this protective barrier, and load only from one end of the stockpile.
